Blocks from the past Mini Quillt

OK I fixed the block :) and decided to make a couple more for a mini quilt. I remember years ago my friend Konda at http://moosequilts.com/ suggested we do mini quilts for our upcoming group project.  I had zero desire, small pieces small blocks why, I asked myself and declined the invitation.  Years later I'm catching the vision.  This finished mini is 16 square.  I may need one for every room in the house!  I love it !!

Blocks from the Past

Here we go.....
I first found some nice fabric from my stash....................

I had page 48 Aunt Sukey's Choice. Since quilting is an art I love putting my own spin on things. I'm calling it Aunt Sukey's switch-a-ruskey, you'll see why on the finished block .

Follow instructions for flying geese if you're not familiar with this.
And voila the switch-a-ruskey!

The next block is on page 49 Union. It was a bit daunting when I first saw it with all those small pieces but it turned out to be my favorite. I like to read the instruction all the way through and get all the cutting done and lay out so I know which pieces go where.
With all those HST I kite tailed them as they were sewn together, this makes for less cutting and speeds up the process a bit.
I found it easiest to start in the center and move out. I squared up the block between attaching F to E's and E's to D's.
These 2 are friends.

Orange Peel by Janice Thompson

I loved how this quilt turned out.  Janice had started quilting another one similar to this and I finished quilting it for her.  I had practice the first time around and this is the final product.  It's going in to the Home Machine Quilting Show in Salt Lake City May 7-9 http://www.hmqs.org/

The full picture is a bit blurry but I love seeing all the colors on the quilt.

Making a come back

Thanks to myquiltdiet.blogspot.com and some friends I'll be involved in a fun QAL and posting again. I'm still quilting. I included a pictures of my most recent project. Sadly the USPS didn't come through on delivery after I paid a hefty price to get it delivered for Christmas. Ahhhh, what do you do, get angry or just move on, I'll move on. Besides a nice after Christmas gift works right?

Book of Mormon Quilt

A while back I went to a quilt retreat and started this quilt. It was love at first sight for me! It took a bit of work but finished it up. I've had it handging up in our home for a couple years. I've had someone ask me about creating this quilt for them so here's the pictures to look at it closer. It has 12 blocks from stories in the Book of Mormon. It's a great piece of art! Thanks for asking about it!

Christmas Trio

Each year for the past 3 years I've made a Christmas quilt for my family.

2011 - Merry Christmas, I found this pattern for blocks and stars and then added the Merry Christmas to it. I backed with red minky!!

2010 - A crossword puzzle Christmas backed with green minky!

2009 - Basic Beauty Patchwork, the fabric is velvet and fancy

I think they are like children, I love them all the same!!
