Quilts, Quilts, Quilts

Been having so much fun quilting on the long arm. The witch quilt my friend Alice did and has since finished 2 more. I love this baby quilt my friend Darlene made. The red, black, and white is my prize favorite. I designed, pieced, and quilted for my good friend Misty's daughter. I have to say I was sad to see it go. I'm going to have to take a road trip to visit my long time friend and see how the quilt looks at home.

My daughter Paige and I both put a quilt in the local quilt show and what do you know. We made the paper.

Quilts Quilts Quilts

So I got a new sewing machine for my birthday, I REALLY am liking it. It's a quilting machine so I've been putting together some tops I've had done. First a gift for a good friend who is graduating from high school next week, then a gift for a great teacher and a baby girl quilt for some good friends that are expecting in July! and to make it a great day I went with my friend and daughter to the fabric store. I couldn't have been more proud than seeing my girl pick out her own fabric for a new skirt pattern and help her friend pick out hers. It's been since she was 3 I made her a dress and she's nearly 12 so that should be interesting. But I made a deal with my friend she'll help with the skirt and I'll help her with the quilts.

A sad heart

We found out our friends 6 year old boy has bone cancer. It really hurts my heart for them. I know this is Heavenly Father's plan. I know He can heal not only physically but emotionally and spiritually. It reminds me of one sleepless night when I was facing brain cancer. I read in the Bible Isaiah 41:10 I remember the healing this brought to me and stayed with me for a few months to come. A small piece of faith added. It's hard to feel so helpless, I know it takes Faith and Faith takes patience. It really makes a lot of other things seem insignificant and I have hugged my kids even more lately. We are praying and I wish I could do more for them...but it's really not about me right now...

New Bedroom

Before we moved into this home we wandered through a big furniture store one day to let the kids dream about what their bedrooms would look like. Logan found a bedroom set he loved. We've been here 2 1/2 years now and he has been very patient, only saying something about it every few months. Well Todd being the handy guy he is decided it was time to build. Once he decides this there is no stopping until the project is finished. (I love that) So Logan helped him and this is what they created. The great thing was we had all this wood from a previous project. We will paint it when the weather is warm outside...most likely chocolate brown. Logan was one happy boy, even his little brothers have been sleeping on the floor of his bedroom because they are so excited for him!!

Goodbye Christmas Hello LOVE

Today I put away the Christmas quilt that has been living on our couch because....I finished the Valentine's Day quilt. This quilt is my creation and I think it turned out nice. The back I pieced which a first for me. I know the kids will love the brown velvet on the back.

Valentines Quilt

This is a quilt my friend Darlene did with the leftover fabric from her first valentines quilt. I quilted it for her. I have stippled far more quilts than I thought I ever would and am hoping to make the investment in a long arm machine. We'll see. Anyway I thought the denim looked great with it. I saved denim for years and then threw it all out when we moved 2 years ago. I think I am inspired to start saving it again...or she says she has plenty to go around so maybe I'll just use hers!
